Our Alignment Based Hatha Yoga Vinyasa Program offers a variety of Westchester's long-time expert instructors/teachers, handpicked for their knowledge, compassion and ability to inspire. You will receive one-on-one instruction to equip yourself for your personal yoga journey, whether it be cultivating self-knowledge or an inspiring career as a teacher. From multimedia anatomy presentations to deep hands-on asana knowledge, meditation and ancient healing mudras, you will take a giant step towards your personal success and fulfillment. Plus, you’ll have FUN & connect with a wonderful, lighthearted community!
Our program is affordable with flexible schedules to fit anyone’s lifestyle. Located in a warm studio, we create a friendly, noncompetitive, welcoming environment. You’ll work very hard, but you’ll also be surrounded and supported with people on a like-minded journey, which often leads to lifelong friendships.
Tobi Kundid is the Owner/Director of Tovami Yoga Studio and the Program Director of the 200 Hour Teacher Training. She holds a Master’s degree in Biology as well as has 20 years experience in the health & Wellness industry. Her practice with Yoga began in 2000 where she practice under a grass roots yogi who studied with Pattabhi Jois and offered his insights and knowledge with great heart and steadiness. Since her initial steps into yoga, Tobi has expanded her knowledge of wellness through many avenues including countless hours of teaching and continuing eductation from New York and Seattle, to Colorado and back. She has been a Teacher Trainer, Master Trainer, Fitness Presenter, Fitness & Wellness manager, a Global Instructor Evaluator, a Fitness Team Leader as well as a Reiki Master and Instructor. She has a true passion for her work and feels that it is the greatest gift to have been able to open a yoga studio and offer this insightful and foundation gift to others. Tobi's passion and tenacity offers a wealth of experience and insights that help her students expand, both on and off the mat.
Shari believes yoga is an integral part of life and that it “provides endless possibility for building strength and finding peace.” Shari Lieberman Balaish discovered the practice of yoga after the birth of her third child almost sixteen years ago. Yoga is an integral part of her life and “provides endless possibility for building strength and finding peace.” Shari received her 200 hour teacher training from Laws of Yoga with Gwen Lawrence/Power yoga for sports, kids’ yoga training with Laurie Jordan at Kaia Yoga and an intensive training with Ellen Saltonstall of the Anusara
Past president of the YTA (Yoga Teachers’ Association) and is also an adjunct professor at Pace University and the College of New Rochelle. She has been influenced by many teachers and traditions and is particularly grateful to Karin Stephan, David Hollander and Kim Schwartz. In addition to teaching yoga and anatomy and working as a dance/movement therapist, Lauri leads yoga and kayaking trips on the Hudson River, in Canada and Costa Rica. She is the author of "A Place of Balance: Yoga Practice for the Kayaker" (Sea Kayaker Magazine, Oct. 2010) and has also published writings on movement therapy and yoga in several books and journals. Lauri has degrees from Wellesley College and a Master’s degree in Dance/Movement Therapy from Goucher College. She has deepened her anatomy work with intensive full-body dissection work with Gil Hedley, several courses in Functional Anatomy for Movement and Injuries at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and a 200-hour course in Body Language with anatomist Tom Myers with whom she continues to study. She is a graduate of Leslie Kaminoff's Yoga Anatomy course and is a certified teacher for Tom Myers' Anatomy Trains® (Click here) to bring his work to the movement world. Prior to her certification, Lauri had been working an associate teacher since 2011 (see here for more information).
Dee's commitment to the practice of yoga and meditation have proven to be incredibly effective in shifting the way she looked at the world. Feeling grounded and strong, she has felt compelled to dedicate her life to helping others. Dee’s journey began 19 years ago when she attended her a prenatal yoga class while expecting her first of three sons. When her husband passed away in 2007, she found herself juggling the pressures of a corporate career while raising her boys on her own. Life was challenging, and Dee struggled with grief, depression and acute anxiety. After many unhappy years, her yoga practice deepened and she discovered meditation and eastern philosophy. Her commitment to the practices proved to be incredibly effective in shifting the way she looked at the world. Feeling grounded and strong, she felt compelled to dedicate her life to helping others and left her corporate career to teach yoga and meditation full time. Dee is the owner of Prana Yoga and Meditation which offers a prenatal and postnatal program and private yoga, meditation and life coaching services. She has written articles for yoganonymous.com, elephantjournal.com, and sivana blog and been featured in USA Today.
Tovami Yoga brings you a comprehensive teacher training based on the the Hatha Yoga Tradition. Our teacher training is designed to integrate vinyasa flow with an emphasis on alignment and skillful sequencing. Our mission is to provide each student with the foundation necessary to teach with compassion, integrity, and aptitude while cultivating the unique voice and style of each individual. The 200-hour Teacher Training is $3,500. If you sign up within the early bird pricing, you will pay $3,250 (a savings of $250, early bird pricing ends on 9/1/2018). You can make a $500 deposit to hold your spot and begin payment for your training. This deposit will go toward your overall training cost and will be refundable only if extenuating circumstances prevail. Payment plans and partial scholarships are avaiable. You can take the duration of your teacher training to pay incrementally.

Often, after students graduate from their 200 hour Teacher Training it helps to continue their journey. As everyone is different, so is their readiness to teach after graduation. Our mentorship program is a chance to participate and help build that community in a sustainable way that allows you to walk away feeling confident in your teaching and in your knowledge of the yoga industry.
